7 coaching modules covering:
• Finding your Focus: You’ll begin by completing assessments and analyzing your results. This information becomes the foundation of your career transition research. You’ll begin by researching interesting job characteristics, titles, companies and even industries, depending on your assessment findings and the “door” you elect to walk through toward your next opportunity!
• Writing your Job Description: As you continue your career transition research, you’ll identify responsibilities that interest you, job titles that intrigue you, and characteristics you require from your next employer. This module will help you bring that all together in a working job description that will serve as your guide throughout your career transition.
• Résumé Real Estate™: Writing a résumé should not be difficult. In this module, you’ll learn about maximizing every inch of your résumé page, as well as the art and science behind all of those “rules” and generally accepted principles of résumé writing.
• Networking Nuts and Bolts: Networking is probably the most critical component of the job search, especially in a challenging economy, and it’s also one that many people tend to neglect the most. Whether you just don’t know where to begin, or simply misunderstand what genuine networking is all about, this module will help you dispel the myths and develop a networking strategy that you can begin immediately and nurture forever.
• Using Social Media in your Job Search: LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter…Oh My! What are the do’s and don’ts of using social media in your job search? Which tools should you use and which should you ignore? What should you say, and who should you “fan,” “friend,” “follow,” and link to? We’ll talk about the “big 3” here and spend time on the one social media tool you MUST be on!
• Interviewing Ins and Outs: Do you know the difference between behavioral and situational interviewing? Are you ready for the demonstration interview? Do you have accomplishment-based answers prepared to WOW everyone in your next interview? This module covers all of these areas and also includes video segments where you’ll be the career coach and critique an interview candidate and offer recommendations for improvement.
• Negotiating the Offer: Talking about money is not easy and when it comes to negotiating our next salary, most of us lack the confidence to manage this conversation. Negotiating should not be an emotional process borne out of desperation or lack of knowledge. And most employers actually EXPECT some level of negotiation for many offered positions. This module will walk you through a simple process of determining your negotiable and non-negotiable requirements and help you develop a fact-based process that gets you closer to (or right on the money) your salary and benefits goals.
Each module includes key points, a PowerPoint with synced audio, and the necessary worksheets and resources to develop your career transition strategy. Also included in each module is a weekly Career Transition Journal and module checklists to help you keep track of everything you’re doing to move your search forward.
We’ve also included a variety of BONUS materials both in the book and on an extra CD:
• All audio files formatted in mp3 format for the professional on the go.
• Powerpoints in notes file with all companion audio files transcribed for the hearing impaired or for the individual who needs to print and go!
• Worksheets and other module resources in either PDF or Word format for extra copies or electronic management.
• A section on recommended Websites and reading to help further develop your career transition strategy.
• A list of action verbs to help ignite your thinking about how to best convey your skills and expertise both on the résumé and in the interview.

Career Boot Camp gave me the tools and techniques required to plan and conduct a focused job search in today’s economic environment. I learned how to compete for fewer as well as unadvertised job openings by using traditional networking and effective e-networking to get in front of recruiters; analyzing my current and necessary skills and abilities; and thinking differently about marketing myself. If your career is in transition, I highly recommend Career Boot Camp to stay fresh, motivated and focused.
